    Star-Crossed Lovers of the Day: The Toronto Zoo will soon tear apart a natural pairing that has formed between two male African penguins named Buddy and Pedro.

    The zoo is planning to force the “top-notch specimens” to separate so they can be matched with females. “It’s a complicated issue,” said Toronto zoo board chair Joe Torzsok. “But they seem to be in a loving relationship of some sort.”

    Similar cases of gay penguins have been recorded in New York, Florida, Japan, and, most recently, in Germany, where a same-sex penguin couple adopted a chick that was rejected by its biological parents.

    People are terrible to animals. They act like they aren’t living creatures. Animals have emotions and make connections, and those connections are as important to them as ours are to us. The fact that humans pull shit like this all the time is absolutely atrocious.

    This is just one of the many, many reasons why zoos are terrible.
